  • I just started a subscription of The Atlantic not too long ago and this was the first short story that I have read from them. It's not at all what I expected given the style of reporting.

I appreciated it's easiness to read, and Martin's vivid description of the punk scene; I'm sure he experienced some of this in his youth.

I didn't really get the story though. I guess it was to convey the feeling of a time and place, and the feeling of a narrator in a place that he is not used to, but I didn't get much else out if it. The writing was short and to the point, which made it a nice and easy read but not much substance to it.
